TEST COMMENTS | The test is designed to detect and characterize viruses present in clinical specimens. The amount of genetic material sequenced from each virus depends on the type of virus and its titer in the sample. While the method is optimized for viruses, some bacterial sequences are also commonly recovered. Sequence reads are assembled de novo and analyzed by homology to sequences in Genbank. Where sequencing reads and coverage are sufficient, partial or full genomes are reported. Samples are accepted from domestic (USA) senders, and can be shipped on ice for overnight delivery.
Turnaround time starts when sample is received in the NGS laboratory. This test is not guaranteed to be definitive as sample quality and time of collection determine the nature of the results. |
